Waikiki Shell Rules

The Waikiki Shell is a venue suitable for the community and provides the very best in entertainment. By putting the following rules in place, it ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all patrons during live performances, the Waikiki Shell Amphitheatre has a few rules, regulations and guidelines to keep in mind before your visit.

Prohibited items

To keep the venue safe, certain items are not allowed inside:

  • » Large bags or backpacks (small bags/purses may be permitted)
  • » Outside alcohol or glass containers
  • » Coolers, large picnic baskets, or bulky chairs
  • » Professional cameras, tripods, or recording equipment
  • » Laser pointers, noisemakers, or fireworks
  • » Weapons, sharp objects, or anything deemed dangerous

General rules 

  • » Gates open approximately one hour before showtime (varies by event).
  • » All guests and bags are subject to security screening upon entry.
  • » Outside food & beverages are generally not allowed, but some events may permit picnic-style food and sealed non-alcoholic drinks – check event details in advance.
  • » Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside.
  • » Re-entry policies vary by event, so plan accordingly.

Seating and lawn rules 

Low-back beach chairs and blankets are usually allowed on the lawn section. However, high-back chairs might be restricted. For further information about lawn seating, please get in touch with the box office. 

Standing and dancing are encouraged! Have a great time, but do be mindful of other guests. 

Violation of rules

Guests who do not comply with these regulations may be asked to leave without a refund. Security staff are on-site to assist with any issues.

Age restrictions

Most events at the Waikiki Shell are all ages, making it an excellent space for families and music lovers of all generations. However, certain shows may have age restrictions depending on the type of event and promoter policies.

Family-friendly events comprise cultural performances and community events – they’re open to all ages. Children under 2 years old may not require a ticket if they sit on a parent’s lap (check event details for confirmation). Some events may offer discounted or free admission for young children.

Some performances, especially those serving alcohol, may be 18+ or 21+. For these shows, guests might need to show a valid ID to enter. If an event has an age restriction, it will be clearly stated when purchasing tickets.
