The Doobie Brothers were and are an American rock band. Originally formed in 1970, they have been active for five decades, with their greatest successes reflected in the 1970s. Sadly, the band broke up in 1982, After a break of some years, in early 1987, in aid of the Vietnam Veterans Aid Foundation, 11 Doobie alumni came together for a concert to benefit the veterans' causes. They soon discovered that tickets were in great demand, and as a result, the concert quickly evolved into a 12-city tour. Their third concert, held at the Hollywood Bowl, was reportedly the venue's fastest sell-out performance since the Beatles had played there just over 20 years earlier.
In the course of their career, The Doobie Brothers have released fifteen studio albums, which include six top-ten appearances on the Billboard 200 album chart. The band has sold well more than 40 million albums worldwide and were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in, 2020. In 2023, the Doobie Brothers band was nominated for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
