Aloha, Honolulu - Hey Hawaii! It’s summer everyday we’re on the island, that’s true- but are you ready for it to officially start, are you ready for some fun?! Well Wake Up! It’s finally the Summertime and it’s time to get Alive with our favorite tours in town - including with our Kulāiwi locals, because The Green is coming back for their summertime tour!
E alu! You heard that right! The Green, the reggae band from Oahu who have been making hits for the last two decades, are going on tour - and yes, you’re invited! Make sure to join us right here at Waikiki Shell on Friday June 13th for a night sure to be fun and full of the best jams of the summer.
Tickets are on sale right now and are starting at $80 for the night. The tour also features support from L.A.B. and DJ Hapa Boy - so you know this won’t be a tour you want to miss. Get your tickets today - and let’s get ready for a night of fun!
Everyone here at Waikiki Shell Amphitheater, located in Kapiolani Park right on the coast of Honolulu, are so excited to welcome The Green to Honolulu as they take on their Summertime Hawaii Tour, hitting three other stops around the islands (Maui Arts Center, Kauai Community College, KBextreme) and then hopping over to Holo Holo San Diego, you know this mini tour is going to be a once in a lifetime showcase of reggae and smooth beats for all of the Hawaii rock heads in your life.
The Green have a career that's dated only fifteen years, but has seen them become a cornerstone and major influence in reggae, island roots, and summertime sounds - not only in Hawaii, but across the globe. They’ve hopped from the islands to the mainland for tours with Rebelution, SOJA, and the Marley brothers, as well as opening for Bruno Mars right here in Honolulu, They are the first name on the list of must-sees if you are dying to go to a reggae concert here on the island, and their touring history shows just how long-lasting their appeal is. They’ve also done the Warped Tour, California’s Roots Festival, the One Love Reggae Tour, and have now moved on to headlining arenas across the islands and the mainland. Seeing them here at The Shell is a treat, and may be the last time we see them at a venue of this size for a long long time.
The Green’s widespread appeal is impressive, but even more impressive is their lyrical context. If you actually listen to what they are singing - they talk about themes of empowerment, family values, and “waking up” from the status quo. The Green wants to elevate us to a higher consciousness, using their quadra-vocal arrangement to their advantage with different moods, stressing of syllables, and aesthetics as you travel around the ups and downs of living in Hawaii - the ups and downs of living in modern times, really. The Green also have other ventures outside of music. They run the nonprofit The Green General - which offers snacks, merch and shaved ice at all times of the day, and Ka Ma’o - another non profit business that mentors the next generation of musicians who want to learn how to work through the industry while mastering how to play their best.
The band has done everything under the sun, and it’s impressive they have enough time to give us a few shows here and there this summer - so let’s make sure to show up and have a party! We’ll see you soon, Honolulu - right here on June 13th!
